Selecting a Desktop Computer
Selecting a good desktop computer can be a challenging task. Partly because there's an overabundance of pc manufactures out there and no way to tell who's the good guy, and who offers over priced junk. The list of personal computer manufacturers could fill a phone book - eMachines, Gateway, HP/Compaq, ThinkCentre, Systemax and Sony VAIO and their various models, to name just a very short few.

What a pain, right? believe it or not, there's an easier way... On-Site has always believed in having a computer built for your specific needs. A custom built PC is really the answer to buying a new computer and here's why:

1) Short of pure junk like an e-machines system, custom PC's typically aren't much more expensive than a similar PC put out by the giants. You can put in what you want in the quality you want. And if you have a budget, it is easy to tailor a system to fit that budget.

2) They are customized to your individual needs. If you do need a handy dandy 25 in one media card reader that lights up and plays songs, you don't have to put one in. And that goes for allot of the other useless junk the big guys put in their systems to offer more. Some wow factor, huh...

3) Custom built PCs use hand selected parts from top manufacturers, not the bargain basement junk that most major PC builders use.

4) Custom built PCs are typically easier to upgrade in the future. Many manufactures eliminate the ability to upgrade or, due to original hardware selection process, much more difficult.

5) Custom PC's can be tweaked, to perform better. Such as overclocking, etc. Allot of the big guys lock you out from most of the settings features on your boards bios. This can make it impossible to tweak the system for optimum stability.

6) No preselected software. You can load Windows if you want Windows, Linux if you want Linux, Linspire if that is your fancy. Don't want that big annoying and ugly McAffe antivirus program? Don't install it. Use a more manageable and less system resource robbing program like Eset instead. It is totally up to you.

We will write again on the topic of custom built computers in the near future. Until then, if you have any questions, call ourComputer Help experts at 1-888-725-4509 for more information.
