Top Reasons to Consider Windows Vista
If you’re a fan of Windows XP, then you are the most likely candidate to be impressed with the new Windows Vista operating system. Windows Vista comes with a pack of cool features and enhancements that will leave you considering upgrading from your current version of Windows. With improved search and organization tools, new multimedia functions and easier access to information and applications, Windows Vista is definitely an excellent option over preview versions of Windows.

Some of the reasons to consider upgrading to Windows Vista:

Windows Aero

The Aero interface provides you with a new level of graphics experience. Windows Aero comes with a new exciting user interface coupled with great exciting visual styles. The mainstay is a semi-transparent window that enables you to see what is behind your active window and a Flip 3D option that allows you display images of open programs in 3D like style. This makes Windows Vista easier to use not to mention a lot better looking than its predecessors. One side not, the Aero capability is not available in the basic version of Vista. However, we would never recommend the basic version as it is nothing more than a glorified version of XP. Rather, those interested in migrating to Vista should look at least Windows Vista Premium as their starting choice.

Improved Search and Organization

Windows Vista also has better search and organization features compared to Windows XP. You can easily save your searches in a special folder and it also has live icons which show you what is inside your files even before opening them making finding the right files extremely easy.

Improved Security

Several security enhancements and improvements make Windows Vista a good bet over Windows XP. The user account control has been greatly improved. Unlike Windows XP, Windows Vista uses a standard account for common tasks and prompts you for an Administrator password for tasks than can harm your computer. In XP, you have to choose between a limited account and having an Administrators account which can be a bit tricky and in the wrong hands, devastating.

Easier Access to Information and Programs

It’s also easier to access information and programs in Windows Vista compared to Windows XP. Vista features Windows Sidebar and Gadgets which make it easy to get information like the local weather and easy access to appointments you have in your calendar. Thanks to a much improved search, -you don’t have to trouble yourself scanning a huge list of computer programs, just type your search query into Vista’s Search Engine (accessible at the bottom of your start menu), and from the very first letter you type, Vista will start to search and find that program for you. This makes finding your favorite programs much easier.

New Multimedia Features

Although Windows XP has great multimedia features and applications like Windows Media Player, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Photo Gallery, and Windows Media Center, they have all been revamped and redesigned to include features that give greater satisfaction and enjoyment to the user. With a TV card, you can now watch Live TV and even record it. Vista also has features that let you pause live TV and resume your watching any time. Those of you who feel music is king will love the new interface afforded by Media Player 11, a standard feature in Vista, which has the look and feel of a stand alone program. It is almost hard to believe it’s Windows!

Better System Tools

Windows Vista has greatly improved on the system tools for backing up your data and restoring you computer to an earlier date. With hard disk sizes becoming larger and more affordable every day, Vista’s Backup utility has been redesigned to accommodate this factor. You can also now backup your data automatically to an array of media types. The System Restore feature in Vista has been greatly improved, making it easier to protect against system failure.
